American Idol stinks

The New York Times had this to say about last night's waste of life that was The American Idol season finale (no, I won't link to the official site):
"Idol" is a monster-size celebration of mediocrity that, astonishingly, has not lost its hold on viewers even in its fifth season, and even though so many copycat contest shows have sprung up in its wake. "Idol" is a bit like "Dallas" or even Coca-Cola, one of its main sponsors. Imitations, be they "Dynasty" and "Falcon Crest," or Pepsi and RC Cola, burnish the image of the original. However cheesy and overwrought, "Idol" is its own instant classic.
I say: Yech. That is all. I cannot watch 'merkin Idol. I watch at the beginning of the season to laugh at the folks who think they can sing and obviously can't. I am grossly disappointed when someone half-decent appears. I don't like reality TV. It STINKS. Except when it makes fun of itself.

Keep the internet free

Save the Internet: Click here

Congress is now pushing a law that would end the free and open Internet as we know it. Internet providers like AT&T and Verizon are lobbying Congress hard to gut Network Neutrality, the Internet's First Amendment and the key to Internet freedom. Net Neutrality prevents AT&T from choosing which websites open most easily for you based on which site pays AT&T more. So Amazon doesn't have to outbid Barnes & Noble for the right to work more properly on your computer.

Many members of Congress take campaign contributions from these companies, and they don't think the public are paying attention to this issue. Let's show them we care - please sign this petition today.

Congress must keep the Internet free and open by voting for meaningful and enforceable Network Neutrality--the Internet's First Amendment.

    The Cat Came Back

For a wonderfully sadistic cartoon I have not seen since the distant days of my youth, have a gander at http://www.metacafe.com/watch/27652/the_cat_came_back/
    or

I believe this had a profound and wonderfully disturbing impact on my mind as I was growing up.
